THE NIGHTWALK

Jarvis had just moved to his new empty appartement in Shanghai when the pandemic lockdown began. Hardly dealing with loneliness, he starts having dark and anxious thoughts. He tries to escape from his nightmares by eloping into the deserted city to get to a friend’s house.

After a Law Degree at the Università Statale of Milan and film studies under the direction of Marco Bellocchio, he moved to France where he obtained a BFA at the École Internationale de Création Audiovisuelle et de Réalisation (EICAR) in Paris.
He is a Film Analysis and Film Directing lecturer at EICAR, Istituto Marangoni, Italian Cultural Institute in Paris and at Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts in Beirut.
His short film 37°4S won the Special Mention of the Jury at the Cannes Film Festival (2013), the David di Donatello for Best Italian Short Film (2014) and the Special Prize Nastro d’Argento (2014). His first feature film Banat was presented at the International Critics’ Week in Venice (2015) and was nominated for the David di Donatello (2016) for the Best First Film, and the Nastro d’Argento for Best Subject. His short film Mon Amour Mon Ami was presented at the Venice Film Festival, Orizzonti section, and at the Toronto International Film Festival. He won the 2018 Bridging the Boarders Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival, the Grand Prix for Human Rights at the Amnesty International Festival in Paris, and the Grand Prix at the Festival Tous Courts in Aix-en-Provence in 2019.
He directed eight episodes of the TV series Squadra Criminale, produced by Freemantle and Rai Fiction and broadcast on Rai Due and Arte. His latest documentary Les aigles de Carthage opened the Critics’ Week of the Venice Film Festival 2020, and his latest short film The Nightwalk won the Prix Canal+ (2021) at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival.
