MADLI LÄÄNE is an Estonian film director, writer and editor. She is an alumna of Berlinale Talents, Midpoint Shorts and European Short Pitch. Madli holds a MFA in Film & Media Production from the University of Texas at Austin. Her thesis film THREE AUGUST DAYS (2018) premiered at the SXSW festival and has participated in 75+ international film festivals and won 19 awards, incl. Best Children’s Film at Uppsala ISFF. Madli’s latest short DEAR PASSENGERS (2022) has screened at Palm Springs, Aspen, Busan (Jury Special Mention), Encounters, PÖFF, Uppsala, Shorts Shorts & Asia, etc. Film was awarded as the Best Short at EFTA – Estonian national film industry awards and Best Baltic Film at 2Annas. Madli’s upcoming short drama JUNGLE LAW received an award at European Short Pitch WIP in February 2022 and was presented at Cannes Court Métrage Focus WIP in May 2022.
