Maja Bresink was born on 13 January 1998 in Frankfurt a.M. where she also grew up and finished school with the Abitur. At the age of 16 she was part of the youth jury of the "international Lucas Film Festival" and with 18 years she stood on the film set for the first time as an intern in the ZDF production "der Staatsanwalt". Half a year later she began her first degree course "Media: Conception & Production" at the Media Campus in Wiesbaden. She finished her studies with a Bachelor of Arts. Parallel to her studies, Maja gained further experience on the film set. 
In 2017, she was a setrunner on the ZDF production "Bad Banks 1". There she met the director Christian Schwochow, who became her mentor on the way. Maja completed a directing internship on the feature film "Deutschstunde" (Network Movie) and then became his content assistant on Christian Schwochow’s projects. In this position she worked on the feature film "Je suis Karl" ( Pandora Film) in 2019 and "Munich – the edge of war" ( Netflix ) in 2020. In the same year, Maja was a member of the Writers Room for a new series with the production company Komplizen Film. After finishing her studies, Maja realised her first short film "Motschekiebchen", with which she won the first prize of the GirlsGoMovie Festival 2021. In the same year, Maja started working as a junior producer at the production company Geißendörfer GmbH. She then worked as a casting assistant for Liza Stutzky until she started studying directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in 2021.
