Nineteen-year-old Ming, a solitary figure residing in the historic district of Guangzhou city, spends her nights laboring through the late hours at a local convenience store. However, as the spring festival draws near, her mundane routine is interrupted by an unexpected invitation from her neighbor Rui to a ’special‘ dinner. Ming decides to attend, unknowingly embarking on a journey that stirs the depths of her enigmatic past…

Yingtong Li is an active writer-director. She holds a Master of Fine art degree in Film and Media art. Believing in “The most personal is the most universal,” Yingtong’s work focuses on personal stories of people living on society’s margins. Through narrative and documentary, she likes to convey subtle, delicate, and understated emotion through sounds and images.
In 2022, her latest narrative short film The Silent Whistle（FENG ZHENG) was premiered at the 75th Cannes film festival and selected for numerous of Oscar-Qualifying and Bafta-qualifying film festivals.
